Antimony
Another mineral that is of interest to Ruby Dragon is antimony, which is classified as a minor metal. The most important and widely used antimony compound is antimony trioxide—its main application is as a flame retardant in plastics, and it also has uses in textiles, rubbers, paints and electronic devices. Meanwhile, antimony metal, known as ingot, is highly effective in producing lead-antimony alloys, which are used in soldering, roofing, sheeting, batteries, cable sheaths and various other uses.
Ruby Dragon’s antimony-mining operations started in 2004 in Lai Han Myar in the Ho Pone Township, which is located in Southern Shan State. Today, the company extracts antimony from a more-than-500-acre concession plot. Ruby Dragon holds a total of more than 10,000 acres in concession.
