History

Ruby Dragon has a long and storied history that began with its founder, Mr. Nay Win Tun, who had a vision for building a successful and sustainable business. Despite facing limited resources, Mr. Nay founded the company in 1992 with 30 employees.

Ruby Dragon's initial mining operations started with the exploration and extraction of rubies in Sai Lian Mine, Mong Hsu Township, Shan State of Myanmar. The company quickly expanded into jade mining in the Phakant region in 1995 and ruby-mining operations in the Mogok area in 1996. These successful gemstone-mining operations paved the way for the company to expand into other sectors.

Ruby Dragon established its first gold mine in 1999, followed by antimony mining in 2002. To diversify further, the company established Dragon Cement in 2006 to meet the increased demand for building materials. Additionally, Ruby Dragon ventured into the hospitality industry and established the Red Mountain Estate winery in Shan State in 2003.

From its humble beginnings, Ruby Dragon has grown to become a leading player in the mining industry and now employs over 1,500 staff in various regions of Myanmar.

Entering a new era, Ruby Dragon has undergone a restructuring process to streamline its operations and focus on its core businesses. Mineral mining remains the company's core business, with antimony and coal at the forefront of the Group's operations.
